People in Hawaii often say, "To own a piece of jewelry from Royal Hawaiian Heritage Jewelry is to own a piece of Hawaii".
Hawaiian jewelry is often given to celebrate birthdays, graduations, weddings and anniversaries. It's called heirloom jewelry because it passed on from generation to generation.
History 101 for Hawaiian Jewelry
The story of Hawaiian Heirloom Jewelry can be dated back to England during the Victorian Era, when Queen Kapiolani and Princess Liliuokalani were invited to celebrate Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887. At the Jubilee, The Hawaiian royalties were presented with precious solid gold bracelets, with their names cut out in Old English Lettering filled with black enamel. The Queen and the Princess were so enraptured with their unique gifts that they had similar bracelets made for other Royal members upon their return to Hawaii.
Hence, a legacy was created and it lives on until today. Hawaiian Jewelry is not for royalties any more, people now days are wearing as a tradition and pride of the Hawaiian culture, it's collected and cherished by families from generations to generations.
